Pair of beautiful, valuable antique Dutch silver large miniatures of standing mirrors. Full-length mirrors or table mirrors.
Both have always stayed together. The one has 6 marks and the other 3 marks (maybe I missed some, they are well hidden).
As far as I can ascertain, the master is probably "Derk Hemmes" from Groningen (1835-1914)
Both have different year stamps: the "U" from 1904 and the "X" from 1907.
On the 1, 2 maker's marks are visible (DH with a mark), a walking lion on the right with a 2 (.833 silver), the year letter U from 1904, and a small sword used from 1814-1906 and also a Minerva head.
The other has the year letter "X" from 1907, a walking lion on the right with a 2 (.833 silver) and a Minerva head with the letter "E" (=Groningen)
Decoration with curls and birds, and a face. Cable decoration surrounding the small mirror. Very detailed openwork masterpieces.
Both are in undamaged condition with normal light signs of use. Original beveled mirrors.
What an unusual couple!
The dimensions approximately:
Height: 12.5 cm
Width: 7.5 cm
Weight of both together: 190 grams
