A pair of beautiful crystal champagne glasses from the prestigious French house of Saint Louis. These glasses are from the Thistle series and feature 24-karat gold accents.
About this series
Unparalleled luxury: the "Thistle Gold" glassware dates back to 1913 and is one of the most exclusive lines of Kristallerie Saint-Louis. Its magnificent appearance makes it a frequent choice for presidential dinner tables at official occasions. Each glass is mouth-blown and hand-engraved. The elegant, delicate gold pattern is applied with a small brush, then fired and polished with agate. The thistle, with its sun-shaped petals and spiky leaves, inspired the gold decoration and artistic engraving on the "Thistle Gold" glassware.
Each glass is a masterpiece of craftsmanship and takes 25 days to produce; ten glassblowers are needed to create the shape and fifteen other glass specialists focus on grinding, engraving and decorating.
Both are in pristine condition as if they have never been used.
Gold was applied to this series from 1970 onwards and is still in production today.
I don't know their exact age. They look like new, probably always kept in a display case.
Both marked (engraved) on the bottom.
